Whitehouse & Fairfield

Customer: Willmott Dixon Location: Milton Keynes

These schools are part of a £21m scheme by Willmott Dixon in Milton Keynes.

The Council aims to deliver over 10,000 much-needed new school places in the area and Bailey Streetscene were approached at an early stage to partner on the external canopies, shelters and street furniture.

The challenges that were faced were working 9 months in advance of the site completion date, but knowing that access to the working areas would demand that a “just in time” approach as the scheme neared completion.

Site and design liaison was under taken, incorporating approval meetings with the council and school leaders. The result allowed forward design and installation planning to be incorporated in the site programmes which in turn released other trades to complete their works on time.

Bailey Streetscene designed all the supplied products around existing buildings, foundations and play areas so all space could be used to its full potential. Costs were an issue on the scheme, but via careful planning and design Bailey Streetscene were able to deliver the supply and install package safely, on time and within budget.

Bailey Streetscene are proud to be part of these scheme, with the Whitehouse site achieved Project of the year within Willmott Dixon.

The end result of this project was a very happy end customer (the school) and high praise from our client Willmott Dixon.

Mark Elliott Senior Building Manager at Willmotts had this to say...

“I would like to thank you all for your hard work, blood, sweat and tears in ensuring that the above project was handed over on time and defect free. This in turn also facilitated a very happy school user who marked us highly in their customer feedback score. All of this and more, have been the reasons for the Birmingham LCO awarding the Project of the year award to our Project Team - a great achievement.
