Recent Expansion of Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport
Manchester Airport is undergoing an extensive £1 billion expansion which will see Terminal 2 more than double in capacity offering dozens of new restaurants, shops, public areas and lounge spaces. The project means not only a vastly improved passenger experience into and out of Manchester, but the ability for the airport to move towards its full capacity.
To achieve the critical timeframe on the expansion and assist a major phase of the project being completed by summer 2020 Bailey Streetscene were tasked with the design, manufacture and installation of an extensive walkway canopy. This will safely connect pedestrians to vital areas of the airport during the ongoing works.
This project required one of our fastest turnarounds to date. From initial drawings, manufacture, delivery and installation all within 30 days.
The final execution of the 144meter canopy provided many challenges as it required installation across multiple ground levels and trades.
While work continues now on the terminal extension pedestrians have a sheltered walkway to keep them dry before and after their flights.
