Solidworks Junior Design Engineer

The right candidate will communicate the technical aspects of our products effectively to customers and external manufacturers, and will maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times. You will have the confidence to continually challenge existing products and procedures, and the technical knowledge to back up your challenges when speaking with directorship and external suppliers.

The role of Solidworks Design Engineer lies at the heart of company operations. Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Create and manage full CAD data sets of existing products, making adjustments to meet customer specification where required. 
  • You may also be involved in the design and development of bespoke products and projects; however your primary remit will be facilitating day-to-day operations with general arrangement and manufacturing drawings, and manipulation of 3D CAD data.
  • Creation of high quality presentation material for the sales teams, and for various marketing channels.

An ideal Solidworks Design Engineer will hold the following skills and experiences:

  • Solidworks knowledge (Configurations, Sheet Metal and Weldments preferable)
  • Practical knowledge of steel and timber manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read and interpret site surveys accurately
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow control procedures
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel critical for Solidworks Design Tables)
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly, using Solidworks to simulate and prove mechanical concepts
  • Be Self-motivated & Ambitious, we are trying to build a team for the future, one full of team members who strive for continuous self-improvement and progression in their career. 

Preferred Skills:

  • Solidworks CSWP certification
  • Creation of macros and automated modelling procedures
  • Background in mechanical design
  • Record of successful NPD

Candidates will be able to present an organised and succinct portfolio of work. Inclusion of relevant projects would be advantageous and demonstration of Solidworks capability is essential. Interview process will include assessment of both Solidworks competency and technical manufacturing knowledge.

Working hours will be 37.5 Hours per week.
